Cinema was a passion right from the start. My journey began as a little kid who loved watching films and got mesmerized by the story on the big screen. As I grew a little older, I started to see the various nuances of filmmaking. I still loved being engrossed by the story and being one with the characters on that large screen but also started enjoying the techniques that made those stories so fascinating, impactful and magical.

I soon realized that to become a good filmmaker I would have to acquire technical expertise. Why should a camera capture an image from one angle and not the other, why would the scene have to be cut in one way and not the other; these techniques are meant to enhance the story and the effect it leaves on the audiences. Not having a technical knowhow would be similar to ending up in the sea without the oars; drifting from one point to the other without knowing exactly where I would eventually end up.

Keeping this in mind, I learnt editing and started my career as an editor for ad films. Ad films for me are the same as films, just shorter. Feature films have a philosophy to sell, ad films have a product. I worked on more than 500 projects. In 2001, I moved to Mumbai – the Maximum City; a breeding ground for dreams. Being in Mumbai, a city for dreamers, inspired me to work harder and make my dreams come true. I took my skills a step further and started editing feature films.

Once I had gained this invaluable experience, I felt ready to plunge head down into the mysterious and exciting world of creativity and storytelling. I started directing Ad films and worked on brands from across industries including beauty, health, automobiles, finance, investments etc.

I was fortunate enough to work with some renowned names in the industry like Shilpa Shetty and Soha Ali Khan in the Olay Commercials, with Pooja Chopra, Miss India World 2009 in Evolve Miss India TVC and Legends of cricket like Sachin Tendulkar, Adam Gilchrist, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, thereby gaining a lot of confidence to face greater challenges in the future ahead. I was also privileged enough to work on national as well as International brands such as SBI Mutual Funds, Airtel, Sony, Fiat, Zapp, Tigo, MTS, Zantel etc.

Cinema is all about storytelling and there are a million ways of telling a story. I love to experiment and explore different possibilities. I believe that the same story can be treated completely differently and told through different perspectives. I believe in honesty, which comes from not just telling the stories that are close to your heart but also through the chosen treatment and the right technique.

In order to achieve this two-fold mission, I work with the best in the industry; great technicians who share my vision and help me make a product we can all be proud of. I have collaborated with some of the best DOPs and Production Designers from around the world.

I am looking forward to taking on greater challenges. I believe that when it comes to Cinema, there is no pre-set summit. It is about climbing as high as you can, fulfilling your own expectations and then looking to go beyond!
